How it all began
Founding Swagelok
Fred A. Lennon founded Swagelok in July 1947 with a $500 loan from his wife's uncle.
Start of sales offices
Mr. Lennon is establishing a network of independent sales and service centers (SSCs), exclusive distributors of Swagelok products. The first SSC is R.S. Crum, established to serve the northeastern United States.
Location in Cleveland
The first Crawford Fitting plant in Cleveland was home to the company from 1950 to 1965.
Range expansion
Swagelok's product line is expanding with the establishment of small, strategically focused companies that produce pipe fittings and needle valves, among other products.
Expansion in Solon
The company grew out of its Cleveland facility and in 1964 began construction of a new home in Solon, a suburb of Cleveland.
Swagelok in the Netherlands
In the year 1965, Swagelok was first available in the Netherlands. Sales of products went through Techmation.
Swagelok to Europe
Swagelok products will be distributed in Europe and the company's first European regional warehouse will be established, serving customers in the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Swagelok to Asia
Distribution of Swagelok products starts in parts of Asia.
Amsterdam Valve and Fitting
Swagelok has now opened an official distribution office in the Netherlands. Later, this branch was renamed Swagelok Netherlands.
Swagelok expansion in Europe, Asia & Africa
Distribution of Swagelok products continues to expand in Europe and Asia, reaching Africa.

Single logo and brand name
After years of growth through the development of advanced products, Swagelok is focusing its identity on a single logo and brand name.
Passing of founder Fred A. Lennon
Swagelok founder Fred A. Lennon passed away at the age of 92 in 1998. The company established the Swagelok Foundation. His family set up the Fred A. Lennon Charitable Trust—both continue Lennon’s support for charitable, nonprofit, and community organizations.
Facility in China
Swagelok opens a facility in Changshu, China, where only components are manufactured, while strategically expanding Swagelok's capacity and access to talent.
Swagelok introduces field engineers
Swagelok introduces field engineers to bring the company's expertise and solutions directly to customers. Today, a team of over 200 engineers assists customers worldwide.
Swagelok Netherlands opens new office
Swagelok Netherlands has opened a new office in Waddinxveen. This office provides more space for product inventory and expands the capabilities for design, assembly, and training.
Thomas F. Lozick
Thomas F. Lozick is the third-generation leader from the founding family of Swagelok. Grounded in the values established by his father and grandfather, Lozick is committed as chairman and CEO to strengthening the company’s customer-focused approach.
Swagelok opens new headquarters
Swagelok's 124,000-square-foot global headquarters and innovation center has been completed, creating a state-of-the-art, fully connected main campus that includes the Solon Main plant and the Order Fulfillment center.
